ok so i know i already have like 3 topics about my stupid computer... but now i downloaded scripts 3.4 and when i load renegade all i get is a pure black screen. help! lol

Make sure when you install 3.4.4 you install it properly, either use the installer (http://www.4camp.net/scripts344.exe) or ensure you copy ALL of the dll files to the Renegade (NOT data) folder, and keep the correct copy of scripts2.dll. Personally, I recommend the installer.

Secondly, if you tried to downgrade from 3.4.4 to a pre 3.x version, ensure you delete d3d8.dll and shaders.dll as they will cause conflicts. Also if you installed any of the BHS core patches after 3.4.4, reinstall 3.4.4 as some of the files will have been overwritten with older ones.

Thirdly, if none of the above work, make absolutely certain you have all the required DirectX files by running the web updater: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en

Fourthly, if none of the above work.... let us know and we will try and think of something else to help!


PS: Make sure you have game.exe set to XP SP2 compatibility mode (Right click on the shortcut, select Properties, go to the Compatibility tab, tick Compatibility Mode and select Windows XP SP2 from the list, then hit OK), and if that still does not work also try running it in Admin mode (right click on the shortcut and choose Run As Administrator). If this works you can set it to always run in Admin mode by ticking the option in the same place as before.

Thank you very much... i have the compality mode on. and im gonna try to redownload scripts. i got renegade running again, but i had to delete everything off it so ill try the installer like you said. thanks again

black screen glitch after you install/patch ren is pretty common, ussually a restart will fix it, if it doesnt make sure you have the latest directX because 3.4 changes it over to its display settings
