AOW skill -versus CCTF skill

As for the rec thing, there is no reason for it to change because some CTF n00b who camps with a server-side modified gun shouldn't get more recs than someone who accomplishes something in an AOW game. Again, I know you guys like CTF and all ... but its NOT anywhere close to being a game of skill.

It depends how you play it... If you get a sbh+flying+golden bullet or play with hotties/techies then I agree with you, but if you play like you would in AOW with a normal character and actually have to work on it, like April does for instance. It's a game of skill...

cctf requires sniping skills where you can be great at aow without sniping skills, which I have none. There is a level of sneaky skill in cctf which can be fun but once you have the flag you need to be able to shoot your way home = no more sneaky. That is why I rarely play cctf.

Erm you don't have to be a sniper.. that's just a myth. And I didn't say it was the same skill of AOW, they are different "mods" so it's normal they are different in skill too. But still needs skill :-)

mmm yes, but we dont get obi guns, 1 shot kill guns, + the rest of the bullshit, its either sbh nukes or snipe nukes... or techrushes. And also when you say "most fps didn't start with vehicles." Im sure all the cod series and alot of other games dont have those kind of mods.. not that ive ever come across anyway.

Wasn't I clear? Not everyone in CCTF plays like a noobs who use sbhs, or worse the losers who use sbh+flying and yeah golden bullet too! Because they are that skiled. I was talking about the rest of the people who just use normal weapons and if you must know the obi gun is almost useless in CCTF because there are no vehicles besides recons bikes. I know it's the splash that kills but erm I don't think I was ever killed by it (can be wrong). Many people just use the normal stuff you also use in AOW server. And tell me how many of you haven't done sbh+beacon and sniper+beacon in AOW when you had no vehicles? I think you're confusing the stuff you do on AOW server with what's done in CCTF, because there are no beacon in CCTF.

Aprilwar, don't make a habit out of quoting private conversations. That one isn't a big deal, but if I wanted everyone's feedback on that I would have posted it here. Consider this a verbal warning.

As for the topic at hand, another point I could make is that if you took a pro sniper (traditional sniping wehther it be in an AOW server or a 500s only server without any mods) .... and put him in a CCTF server in a 1v1 against a CCTF pro with "average" aim, he'd lose. The AOW sniper is definitely more skilled but since he's unfamiliar with the gamestyle of this CRAZY capture the flag modification he doesn't stand a chance. That's why you see pros getting ownt in CCTF ... and that's why you see pros that take the time to learn the CCTF-style raping even the best of your regulars. It requires some skill, obviously, as it is a game with an objective and not everyone is the same. But compared to AOW, there is definitely less skill in CTF let alone Crazy CTF.

Sean, from what I can tell most decent snipers in AOW stink against flying targets, I know they're not used to it... I wasn't either! Yet I seem to be the one that kills them well without scope o_O Ask Imb0ss lol, he always dies in my hands when flying XD but kills everyone else. By this I mean, sniping in CCTF is way harder because people also move upwards and downwards and are smaller targets than orcas/apaches.

This topic all depends on how you judge the two styles of playing.

I disagree with ctf needing better inf tactics, same goes for aow. Ctf is a mod so it all comes from the same place.
This is a real clusterfuck of a topic so imma try and explain it the best I can.

Lets say someone in the top 10 of all renegade players ever is good for many reasons. One of those being his inf tactics. There is nothing more important then the opening rush on any map for any kind of aow. Plain and simple and that opening rush can determin the entire game. In ctf the game is based around inf so one would be inclined to think that a ctf person is better because all they do is inf. I dont agree with that. I think they adjusted to the style of game, learned the tricks, the ins and outs of the maps. Imo that doesnt make them a more skilled player.

You take the best CTF player ever and you take the best Aow player ever and stick em in a 1v1 on field. Id bet my life the ctf gets f*cking anal raped.

A well rounded aow player has way more skill at ren then a ctf player.

Even thinking its the other way around means you're a f*cking moron and dont know dick sh*t about the game.

But specifying in Infantry skills IMVFHO a 'Tsugaming' CCTF player has WAY MORE chances to win in a Sniper/Any meat grinder challenge against a 'n00bstories/jelly' AOW player. Am I clear?

You cant say that the majority of the AOW players are better than the CCTF players. Why? because there are hundreds of noob AOW players. IF AOW has 4000 active players only 100-200 are good players. And THATS not the majority.

What april said... people seem to be a bit slow reading here... I'm an AOW player myself! I know very well the differences, by the way you don't even play old school AOW, you also play a modified version of it in the AOW server.

And many people in AOW only snipe with sakura/havocs basic infatry... some skill XD
