Should we sqeeze the forums into a frame?

If you'll notice, the front of the website has side bars on the left and right (menus on left, shoutbox on right, etc). But when you open the forums they take up the full width of the screen (no menus or shoutbox).

Do you think we should alter the forums to look like the front page of the website so that while you're viewing the forum you can see the menus/sidebars?

No. It's cool going to the home page for those things. The only reason for putting a sidebar on the forum index should be if you implement a live chat feature.

To be completely honest I'm not 100% sure how the old one was set up. But if I remember correctly, the old CMS did have side bars (menus/shoutbox).

I like how the old forum was. I'm too lazy to go to the home page for just the shoutbox or TS viewer lol.

I like the way it looks now. Forums are forums they should have a different look than the front page.

Shows how much attention you paid to all my hard work :P

The home page, the forum index and non-forum pages all used the sidebar frame (hence why the code was in sidebar_x.php etc rather than directly in home.php) whilst the other forum pages (view topics in forum, view topic etc) all did *not* use the sidebar frame, but were still limited to the 1000 or so pixels width of the banner.

Also the poll could do with a "Don't care" option for those of us not really fussed one way or the other.

I definitely noticed your work. You've done some great work. I just have a terrible memory.

I voted no.

As it is it the forum area would be too small, are you able to make the left side bar smaller perhaps? If so... how small?

The CMS I installed was installed because it makes hardly any changes to the core codebase. So to answer your question, it's pretty flexible. We can make it smaller if need be.

Could you do it so I could see how it would look? Maybe on a seperate page?

I voted no but if i was tochange my vote to yes it would make the result of this poll the opposite ;)

I still think it is fine the way it is. I like forums to just be about forums and nothing else.

The front page is important and should be unique with its information so that people actually look at it and navigate from there.
