Interest?

What kind of ACTIVE interest do we still have in C&C:Renegade?
I'm thinking about working with Nightma12 and Darkdarr to get a decent AOW server going again - but with the "Jelly Saturation" and a shortage of players, we'd have to setup a server for a very specific audience.
So what is it that would set us apart?
The only thing I can think of would be a Mini-Marathon server. No time limit (Marathon mode), with maybe 24 slots (12v12), and very traditional settings (e.g. no SSGM crates, but probably drop mod).
Thoughts? Ideas?

I like the idea of a smaller game, brings the more of the team focus into view.

All that happens on Jelly in those 20v20 games is you have a 10v10 with the other 10v10 doing stupid sh*t in the tunnels. It's fun, cuz I'm in the active 10v10 group ... but its also frustrating when those other 10 people on my team get in the way all the time. I'd rather they just not be there, tbh.

I was thinking the other day that if Renegade servers and IRC cost us so much money.. maybe we should only host them come summer time when Renegade picks up a bit. And though all the old school players like our aow, new players (the majority of renegade) does not like our aow server because it is to bland for them.

I got an idea while playing on Jelly from their "...no longer on life support" message. I don't know how their system works, but I'm thinking about contributing more myself (so that we don't have to stress each month about donations) as long as its reasonable - and then if something gets unpopular or the donations are just flat terrible put it in "life support" ... meaning I'll pull the plug if it continues for too long.

Yeah, unfortunately that IS the truth. I think on large marathons the stupid wreck mod is actually useful (though in smaller games its terrible so I probably wouldn't use it) ... but drop mod, as annoying as it can be, seems to be popular. So I think I'd make a few personal concessions.

ye i like the wreck mod on big games but on small games it just eats away the vech limit but i do like the drop mod it allows players you dont have that much money to still have a fighting chance against the hordes
