You can PM Spurs with the IP info, and I'm sure there was a topic way back when where it was decided that those laser pistols would be disallowed.

Not that i'm aware of, it gives no advantage at all, its just a skin

It's disallowed in clanwars I believe, due to the fact that the enemy can see it around a corner or something like that... I don't think we ever banned it on our server.

Rule #21 Certain "advantage skins" are prohibited. These include stealth effect skins, stealth tank engine sounds, infantry skins which are brighter than default, and skins which extend past the original model (laser pistols, for example)

Nice call toad, now I have to figure out how to take it off , it came with a skin pack. Any ideas?

Yeah, this is indeed an old rule ... and is also disallowed on our servers. If that isn't clear, then Toad should make it more clear.

And that is exactly why: because you can see a laser sticking out around corners when someone is hiding ... thus letting you know they're there. It was created to practically work like a cheat.
