NEW TSU Points system!

I'm pleased to introduce a new and improved TSU Points system!

(prepare for a long post, lol)

As many of you know, there is a feature of this main community forum known as "TSU Points". This is a built in points system which awards you based on different levels of automated-participation (such as making posts) and allows for manual awarding (or removal) of points as a means of reward or punishment. TSU Points are redeemable for items.

Until now, the TSU Points system has been more of a beta test for me. I've been trying to find a good balance between the number of points to award and for what ... and what prizes to give out. There have been no prizes awarded yet. That is about to change.

The first part of the new system was to, unfortunately, reset all points back to zero. However, I have awarded points to the most active users in the community based on a post count range that I carefully picked out last night.

HOW THE NEW SYSTEM WORKS

1 points = new topic
0.25 (1/4 point) per topic reply

Limit: Only the first 10 posts of a 24 hour period are calculated. This is to prevent spamming/abuse. This means that only the first 10 posts of that day will use the reward system listed above. For the average active user, this means you will receive approximately 5 or so points per day.

*Also added: a new feature which allows you to donate your points to someone else. This is a cool feature in situations such as bets, favors, etc. So maybe you want someone to make you a signature?.....you can offer them some of your TSU points to do it for you.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

It's also worth noting that the new system is much cleaner and easier to understand. It is also based on a lower multiple which means that TSU Points are no longer inflated and actually carry some weight.

AWARDS

How can you use your TSU Points? To be honest I have not come up with an exact calculation of how many points will earn you what - but I do have an idea of some of the things I will be offering:

--Moderator privledges
--Custom/Private teamspeak channels
--Gift cards
--Custom name color
--Discounts towards products (such as game servers)
--Webhosting

PUNISHMENTS

Clan leaders will have the option of requesting point deductions from their members in order to punish them.

Forum users will also have the option of paying 3 TSU points for every 1 TSU Point that they wish to remove from another member. So, for example, if you wanted to remove 30 of my TSU Points you would have to pay 90 TSU points of your own.

STARTUP BONUSES*
very active (600+ posts) = +500
pretty active (200+ posts) = +200
active (100+ posts) = +75
general (25+ posts) = +10
Original/Founding Leadership = +500
Original/Founding Members = +250

*Startup Bonuses have already been awarded to everyone. Post counts were considered as of 00:01 am Eastern Time on February 6, 2007.

Awsome! The fact that you can give points to other members is a great idea.. we can see members as valuble by how many posts they have... or how many TsU points they have. sweet :)

Im not sure how the option to take away points from someone and paying 3x the amount will work out, but eh we will see.

Yeah, I thought about that. I'm trying to keep the TSU points as more of a rewards system, though - so if there was an option to pay for TSU Points you probably wouldn't get too many since the money is supposed to be a donation (ie. you dont expect anything in return).

OH, I also forgot to mention that the only forum which rewards points is THIS one (the one here at http://www.tsugaming.com/forums). Any of our affiliate forums (like clan forums, renunderground forums, support forums, etc.) do not award TSU Points for posts.

Aww I had a good amount going too.. even though I wasn't sure what they were for. Oh well. Good work on getting it working how you want it to work. Always fun when something works the way you want it to, especially something like programing (tsupoints using some sort of web scripting language I'm guessing).

You're thinking of something different I think. But the point system has changed nonetheless - so we're going to have to unfortunately "restart" with this new system. I think its turned out to be quite fair.

Alright, I'm about to start setting up the website "shop" so you guys can start redeeming TSU points for items. :-)

But I'd like to take some suggestions, first. What are some things you'd like to be able to "buy"? Items such as custom title on the forums, a unique color, maybe a teamspeak channel for yourself, etc. Some things that I will never sell are accesses (ie. I will not sell SA to the teamspeak server, etc.).

So come up with some ideas and tell me what you'd be interested in "buying".
