Give soldiers a grenade launcher. Means that if they're being raped by 3 Mutants, they have a chance of getting some points on the board through splash damage, plus it's got decent range.

Nah grenades suck... they don't explode at short range... Hard to aim... don't do much damage... and they have minimal range... Wow sorry didn't mean to be so harsh about it ;)

Here's an idea, since grenades don't explode short range, give them a shotgun and grenade launcher. Then you have something that can do good in long range (kinda hard to aim though...) and a shorter range gun

flamethrower sucks...

remember mutants loss health at half the rate of humans so it is hard as hell to kill them with the flamethrower

Then nothing's going to make it more fair. I suggested to Lee before that the first Mutant should be a bit stronger than the rest, but apparently, that's too difficult.

There's nothing else you can do, really.

Bah, it only takes 8 headshots with an auto rifle ;)
