MW3 Lets Talk

Post by Purp »

I have my MW3 preordered and ready to pick up when the game comes out.
I assume that Cro will be heading MW3 up but am not sure hence the assumption.

For me buying this game was automatic considering that I own every COD game ever released.

What are y'alls pre opinion on the game so far?? I am interested to see how many of you will be getting this game.
I have a few guys that I play MW2 with that are from my MMO guild. They plan on having it on release day.

I am getting excited to play not that much longer to wait. 11.09.11 BOOM HEADSHOT!

I'm right with you guys, BF3 first :) I haven't really looked into MW3 a whole lot, but I've always preferred the MW series, so I'll probably be getting it around release. Just dunno if it'll be for console or pc o.O

waiting to see my money situation but i will probably be preordering the hardened edition for the one year COD elite membership ($49.99 value/year + all DLCs for free and on PS3 thats 15 a DLC and they say they are gunna release 4 so 15 x 4 = 60)

hardened edition -> $100

-or-

MW3 -> 60
elite -> 50

-or-

MW3 -> 60
DLCs -> 60

so buying the hardened edition makes sense this time

I am the opposite of you all. BF3 will be my second month down the road purchase.
Although with all of you getting BF3 right off the bat I will probably expedite my purchase.

I loved the range of vehicles and weapons in BF2 just didnt like that you couldnt prone. When you are sniping prone is your best friend.
Sniping is what I did best in BF2. I was pertty damn good at the M1A1 as well I loved that damn tank.

My opinion. I honestly don't think MW3 looks very good. I know most people will disagree with me but I didn't really enjoy MW2. I played the hell out of it, but it just became soooooo frustrating. All the hacks, the noob tubes, the overpowered UMPs, the Commando Panic Knifing, the killstreaks that were extremely overpowered, and the fact that they tailored sniping to be a run and gun type of class. I am not saying that I want the game to be 100% realistic, some of the crazy stuff they think of is really fun, but listen to your fans. They didn't support MW2 at all and glitches went unpatched for months. The care package duplication glitch, the javalen glitch, the super speed care package glitch, and tons upon tons of map glitches. I am not saying that it is not a good game but if they had listened to their fans and tweaked their game it could have been arguably the best FPS of all time.

I will be buying MW3 only because all of my friends seem to be into it and I game for the social, but if Infinity Ward does not learn their lesson from MW2 then I think that the game will turn out very bad.

I completely agree with you. I went off the CoD series because of the reasons you detail - with each successive title it seems to get further away from realism and the true nature of the game. I think that's why MW1 is my favourite; it's simple enough that there's not too many bells and whistles that can be exploited to make the game ridiculous and give unrealistic advantages - using authentic special forces tactics can still give you a reasonably good game. It's the sniping that's really stopped me playing CoD; to me sniping should be about stealth and aim, not running about firing from the hip. 'Quickscoping' is not a skill, any wanker with half a brain can do it. The lack of provision on any map for a true sniper class really detracts from the realism angle of the game in my opinion.

What I look for in the games is rather skewed by my being a historian, but I do think the series is getting more and more ridiculous with each title. I think IF and Trey (they're both as bad as each other) will get a rude awakening in the comparatively near future if they don't improve their development quality; people will just fail to buy a new title and if they're not ready for it it'll push them under and bury the series.

what i will say is i think COD hit its prime with COD4. i will buy MW3 because i like IW COD better then 3arc COD (me and dagun argue this to death). I feel a "realistic" shooter should basically be all about advantage which MW2 for the most part is (same with COD4). this is why "getting turned on" is such a big deal. This is one of the reasons i dislike BO (compared to MW2). it just takes to long to kill... and to the kill streaks are over powered; they really arent that bad, dagun complains more about attack dogs then ive ever heard him complain about any other kill streak, (maybe the 11 tier and 15 tier could be switched) but as long as 2 people on your team have launchers then they go down rather quick. but in MW2 almost no one carries a launcher because the other secondary are not totally nerfed and you acutally have a decent chance playing with one of those up against a primary. Yes i will agree that 3arc does a hell of a lot better job with back end support of their game then IW does. If IW can take MW2 add more recoil to the UMP .45 and then most of all back the game with FAST patches as people find glitchs/exploits then IW has a winning game on there hands
