Please join me in welcoming the first TGN Government to their positions!
Officers: fl00d3d, Executive Officer (responsible for overseeing all activities, with focus on community expansion and development) Starlite, Operations Officer (responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations and logistics) Nightma12, Financial Officer (responsible for managing finances and financial accounts) Dog02, Technical Officer (responsible for overseeing all server administration and technical work)
Officers: Soapey, Council Member Medici, Council Member Apv320jr, Council Member darkdarr, Council Member dagun, Council Member Liz, Council Member
With our system of government, the Officers are charged with broad roles - each equivalent to a major function of the network. And while they are generally regarded as representatives of their own agendas, each officer remains equal to the others (with the exception of the Executive Officer) in terms of voting power and responsibilities may overlap. The Council members are not charged with any specific roles and have votes that are weighted half as much as an officer but they are twice in number. Together, the Officers and Council members function administratively as near-equals. For official matters which require voting (or during disagreements), a tiered voting system is in place (which each of the three tiers having a total voting power equal to the other two tiers). As such, it is possible for any decision to be overpowered by other representatives.
If you have any feedback, please contact one of these members so they can bring your concern or idea to the rest of the TGN Government for a formal vote.
And remember: ANYONE can be a Council member! So stay active, and in the future you may run for a position on the Council and be elected! Officers are appointed, but ratified through non-objection by all members. For more information on our government, visit http://www.tsugaming.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=826&t=9008.
Because this is the first-ever implementation of a system like this in TGN, the initial term will be two months (ending Feb 29th) and we may continue to tweak the way the TGN Government works. At that point, a new election will take place.
Again, welcome to all members of the new leadership team!

Posted: fl00d3d @ February 2nd, 2012, 12:21 am |
In the coming week, I will be presenting a list of current staff members to the TGN Government.
Our government will then discuss this list and decide if any staff members should be removed or replaced.
If you are a staff member that hasn't been very active and would like to retain your position in the community, please make a special comment below to show your intent to remain a part of our staff.
[Sidenote: we are still looking for 3 more council members]

| Announcement: Structure |
|
Posted: fl00d3d @ January 26th, 2012, 11:00 pm |
[ THIS POST IS A WORK IN PROGRESS -- IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS OR SEE ERRORS, PLEASE COMMENT BELOW ] Preface: The Tsunami Gaming Network (TGN) is constantly striving to provide an environment that is as democratic as reasonably possible while pursuing the ethical mission of its founder. For this reason, we have adapted a sort of democratic-oligarchy hybrid government which aims to give every day community participants the capacity to directly influence final decisions. The premise of the implemented design is to provide a weighted voting structure in which each tier is equal to the next while progressively requiring more and more solidarity as opposition rises against very senior-level leadership. With this design, the possibility to over-rule or reject decisions made by a founder or one of his agents remains possible in all circumstances.
Structure:

Positions: Positions by tier:
- TIER 1 = Executive (officer). This position is held by a founder or someone directly appointed by the Founder.
- TIER 2 = Administrative (officer). These three positions are held by someone recommended/appointed by a founder. Appointments are ratified by the lack of objection from community participants. If an objection is made and no resolution can be found, the candidate cannot be ratified and a replacement should be found. The three positions are Operations Officer (oversees day-to-day operations, inter-community relations, and general policy enforcement), Financial Officer (oversees short-term and long-term finances to include donation collection, budgeting, and fiscal strategy), and Technical Officer (oversees root-level technical access and administrator appointments as well as maintains the technological stability and integrity of TGN).
- TIER 3 = Elected Officials (council). These six positions are held by community members. They are filled by nomination through a strictly democratic process. Anyone may run for a position in one of these seats. Each seat is equal and without specific purpose.
Decision-making: Decisions can theoretically be made by any person holding any of the ten government positions. However, if a weighted disagreement or opposition arises that is equal to the weight of the person(s) making/supporting the decision - then the matter must be suspended and handled with a formal vote. Any decision that has already been made or implemented may not be reversed or altered without a formal vote. *more specific details on this to come

| Announcement: Server Temporarily Moved |
|
Posted: dagun @ January 23rd, 2012, 8:19 pm |
Due to some issues with the Tsugaming box we have temporarily moved the server.
New Server IP: 107.8.137.184
Dynmap: 107.8.137.184:8123
Unfortunately the map became corrupted somewhere in the process. We used an editing software and fused some of the pieces we salvaged with a backed up version of the map, nothing major was lost this is just a warning as to why some things may look slightly different.
We plan to start advertising the server as soon as possible.
Also the Survival world/portal is still a little bit glitchy so please be patient we are working on that. Again report any bugs to the forums and enjoy.
Thank you for your cooperation, dagun

| Announcement: Server is up to date! |
|
Posted: dagun @ January 16th, 2012, 12:26 pm |
The server is up to date and back on the box. Many players are still experiencing a java error that kicks them but we are working on that.
Along with the new server we reinstated the Survival world and added the new dynmap plugin.
You can now communicate with players and view the map from your web browser. It is a little glitchy, but hopefully it will clear up with time.
Link to our map: http://173.193.83.34:8123/
Server IP: server.minecraft.tsugaming.com
As always please report any bugs to the forums. We are trying to get this java issue sorted out ASAP!

| Announcement: Website Changes/Update |
|
Posted: fl00d3d @ January 8th, 2012, 11:04 pm |
I will be doing two major things with the forums over the next couple of days (starting right now):
- Updating the forum code base/core to the latest version. This may break some modification functionality and links. If you find something that isn't working, let me know in a post below.
- Migrating the forums to http://forums.tsugaming.com (I will setup http://tsugaming.com/forums to automatically forward there). At the same time that I do this, I will be creating a NEW (fresh) copy of phpBB 3.0.10 (latest version) there and installing the latest version of all the mods I want to keep to that copy. This step will produce a very clean and more up-to-date forum that accommodates future projects that are upcoming - but at the same time it is expected to cause a lot of file path errors and break links. There is no easy way to do this, so I'm just going to do it and hope for the best (fixing any problems as they arise).
Please be patient with me as I make these changes. PHP is not my native language and I have a full plate of work outside of this website that prohibits me from spending too much time per day working on this. Regardless, Teamspeak will remain online and fully functional. Our Facebook page will be online at all times for discussions.
